The book that I’m reading this month was very popular this past year. Especially now that it’s been made into a movie. My book of the month for November will be Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens. I know I’m little late to the party on this one, but am excited to see what all the hype is about.
This book is actually Owens’ first solo novel, which made me all the more excited to read this chart topping novel. From what I have heard from friends and family who have already read this book, it’s going to be a tear jerker. Which I am excited for. I love books that trigger such strong emotions because they stick with you forever after that.
The story takes place in an area of North Carolina in the late 1960’s. An area claimed to be haunted by the “Marsh Girl”. From the sound of it, this girl is a true being in this time period. She is immediately suspected after a body is found, but this Marsh Girl isn’t what the locals make her out to be. She wants to venture out of her “comfort zone” and show people that she isn’t this evil inhabitant that they make her out to be.
The fact that the movie based on this book is doing so well right now is what has really prompted me to make this my November book of the month. I try my best to read books before watching their movie renditions. That way I can create my own version of the character and scenery before seeing what the movie portrays it all to be. Not to mention all of the extra “insider” information I will get from reading the book.
